Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Have a nice day with your loved one(s)!

I did some crochet for Valentine’s Day and some other DYI stuff. Have a look …

This candle jar has a cute heart string made out of thread no. 15. You can find the pattern here. It’s asy and very fast done. The edge is no crochet, it’s ribbon I bought at Zeeman.

Then I made this flower wreath. I found it complicated to pick colors I liked. Originally I wanted to use a lot more colors, yellow, orange and blue … But I’m quite satisfied with the way it came out. The heart wreath was only 99 c at Zeeman. I bought 4 new ones yesterday because I think it’s such a nice present and of course I want one for our own door. Here is my pattern for the little flowers.

Now these sachets contain chocolate lollies that melt in hot milk. I found the idea on a German Blog: zuckerimsalz

Real Size Envelope

Real Size Envelope

Wanted to have a crochet envelope for a paper birthday card I bought. So I took the paper envelope (DIN C6 = 4.5 x 6.4 inches) and opened it in order to measure it.

P1080592

Then I started to crochet. And this is how I did it:

Real Size Envelope by lydienne

You need thick cotton yarn (I used G-B Schulgarn) and a 5.00 mm Tunisian crochet hook.

Gauge: 14 stitches = 4 inches/10 cm

ch 30 and work a total of 27 rows in tss

Your rectangle should measure  22 cm/8.7 inches x 18 cm/7 inches

Now you start decreasing. I made 7 rows with each a decrease on the left side. (You decrease in the forward pass by simply pulling the yarn trough the last two stitches at once.)

Now you’re done. Leave a long tail for sewing. Now you can fold your envelope and sew the sides to the bottom part.

Time to be creative! Add apliques or embroidery to your envelope to make it a nice present for someone you love!

Started yesterday evening and finished this mitts today. You can find the pattern here. It’s well written with lots of pictures.

These are my alterations for the project:

Finished after 9 rows of hearts and not 10. Worked one round of sc to finish.

By using only 2 colors I didn’t have to cut yarn at the end of each round. I carried the yarn inside the mitts.

I found the thumb wouldn’t work. So, I did it as follows:

Rnd 1: same as in pattern

Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same st and in next two scs, sc2tog, sc in next 3 scs, sc2tog, sc in next 6 scs, sc2tog, sl st in first sc.

Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in same st and in next two scs, sc2tog, sc in next 2 scs, sc2tog, sc in next 5 scs, sc2tog, sl st in first sc.

Rnd 4 and 5: sc around

I think it’s a very nice and quick project, especially  for Valentine’s Day!

Love Letter Pattern

Love Letter Pattern

I made some square love letters from lion brand yarn. but I wanted a rectangular one. So I made up my own pattern. Here it is. Have fun crocheting!

Love Letter Pattern by lydienne

size of finished envelope: 13.5 cm x 8 cm
yarn: Zeeman Royal white
hook: Tunisian 5.00 mm
gauge: 22 sts = 15cm, 5 rows =3.5 cm

ch 22

15 rows in Tunisian Simple Stitch. The rectangle should be 15 cm wide and 11.5 cm long.

5 rows, each decreasing one stitch at the beginning.

After shaping edge with sl st, fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Fold your “letter” and sew it together.

Sew heart to edge. You can now insert the upper corner into the letter.

Hope you like your heart letter!
